This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of the PomeloHost Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses PomeloHost services, including your users and customers if you resell or share your services. You are responsible for any violation that happens through your account.
1. Illegal and harmful content
You may not use the services to store, publish, transmit or link to:
- child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexualizes minors. We report such content to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement;
- content that infringes copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual property rights;
- content that promotes or incites violence or terrorism, or threatens or harasses others;
- phishing pages, fake login pages or websites that impersonate other organizations;
- malware, ransomware, spyware or tools designed to compromise systems;
- content or services that violate U.S. law or the law of the place where they are offered, including unlicensed gambling, illegal drugs and stolen data.
2. Network abuse and security
You may not:
- attack, scan, probe or test the vulnerability of any system or network without the owner’s written permission;
- launch or participate in denial-of-service attacks;
- operate open proxies, open mail relays or open DNS resolvers that can be abused by others;
- forge packet headers or IP addresses, or use IP addresses not assigned to your service;
- access accounts, systems or data without authorization;
- operate botnets or command-and-control servers.
3. Email and spam
- Unsolicited bulk email is prohibited. Email you send must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act, include a working unsubscribe option and go only to recipients who have agreed to receive it.
- Outbound port 25 is closed on VPS plans by default. We may open it on request for accounts in good standing after review.
- You may not use purchased, rented or scraped email lists.
- We may suspend email sending from any service that causes our IP addresses to be listed on reputable blocklists.
4. Resource use
- Cryptocurrency mining, including mining through containers or browser scripts, is prohibited on all plans.
- You may not run workloads that consume processor, disk or network resources in a way that degrades service for other customers, as described in the fair use section of our Terms of Service.
- Hosting plans may not be used for file storage, backups of other systems, media streaming or file-sharing services.
5. Your responsibility for security
Keep your systems patched and your credentials secure. If your service is compromised and used for abuse, we treat it as a violation until it is cleaned and secured, even if you did not cause the compromise.
6. Reporting abuse
Report abuse to [email protected]. Please include the IP address or domain, the date and time with time zone, and evidence such as logs or headers. Copyright complaints should follow our DMCA Policy.
7. How we enforce this policy
We investigate reported or detected violations. Depending on the severity, we may:
- notify you and ask you to fix the issue within a set time;
- remove specific content, block a port or limit resources;
- suspend the service immediately when there is ongoing harm to our network, other customers or third parties;
- terminate the service and your account for serious or repeated violations.
Services terminated for violating this AUP are not eligible for refunds. We may cooperate with law enforcement and report illegal activity.
8. Changes
We may update this AUP to address new types of abuse. The current version is always available on our website.
